Adopting Saves Lives 🐾
When you adopt from Cleo’s Legacy, you’re not just giving a dog or cat a home. You’re giving them a second chance at life.
Every adoption opens a foster home for us to rescue another animal in need, especially those who are overlooked, abandoned, medically or behaviorally challenging, or facing euthanasia.
Cleo’s Legacy is a 100% volunteer-run, foster-based 501(c)(3) rescue. We do not have a shelter building. Our animals live in foster homes throughout our community while they wait for their forever families.
When you adopt, you become part of that lifesaving chain. Your adoption makes room for the next animal who needs us.
Adoption Fees
Adoption fees vary by animal and are listed on each individual adoption profile.
Dogs: typically $200+
Kittens: $95
We do not make a profit from adoption fees. In fact, they rarely cover the full cost of caring for an animal while they are with us.
Before adoption, dogs are:
Many of the animals we take in require significantly more, including emergency or specialty veterinary care, medications, rehabilitation, professional training, preventatives, food and supplies.
Adoption fees cover only a portion of these expenses. We rely heavily on donations and community support to continue saying yes to animals who need us.
🧡 Adoption fees are waived for veterans, first responders and law enforcement through our partnership with Chico’s Promise.
Before You Adopt: Ask Yourself
Do I have the time and patience?
Bringing an animal home is an adjustment for everyone. A dog may need three months or longer to fully settle into a new environment. Puppies can require many months of consistency, training and patience to learn obedience, house training and the basics.
Am I financially prepared?
Pet ownership includes food, routine veterinary care, preventatives and supplies. You should also be prepared for unexpected veterinary expenses and professional training if needed.
Is my housing secure?
Do I have stable, pet-friendly housing? If my circumstances change or I need to move, do I have a realistic plan that allows my pet to remain part of my family?
Am I prepared for a lifetime commitment?
Adoption isn’t just about whether an animal fits your life today. It’s about whether you’re prepared to make decisions with them in mind for the rest of their life.
Adoption Is for LIFE ❤️
Many of the animals who come to Cleo’s Legacy have already experienced abandonment, instability, neglect or the loss of the only home they knew.
They deserve for their next home to be their forever home.
Please apply only when you are ready for the responsibility, patience, expense and incredible privilege that comes with making an animal part of your family for life.
Adopt one. Save two.
You give one animal a forever home and open a foster home for the next life waiting to be saved. 🐾

Every animal needs time to decompress, adjust, and trust in their new home:
Please give your new pet the patience, consistency, and love they need during this transition. A little time and understanding go a long way in helping them thrive. ❤️
